Anderson Burton Proudly Announces 0.55 Experience Modification Rating

When it comes to Workers’ Compensation losses, Anderson Burton is proud to say it operations are conducted in a very safe manner.  How safe?

In the insurance world, there is an interstate rating called the “EMR” which stands for “Experience Modification Rating”.  This rating is calculated by an independent agency – the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI).  In calculating the EMR, NCCI compares a company’s three-year payroll to the number of workers’ comp losses experienced by the company during the same three-year time period.  The lower the calculated EMR the better.

The resulting calculated EMR indicates how safe a company is compared to its industry peers.  A rating of 1.00 indicates the average loss experience of the specific industry.  Any rating less than 1.00 means the company’s three-year workers’ comp loss experience is more favorable than its peers.  Any rating greater than 1.00 means the company’s workers’ comp loss experience is less favorable than its industry peers.  Anderson Burton is proud of its 0.55 EMR.  This is not only very good, but it is also very hard to achieve.

Why does a low EMR matter?  It matters for many reasons, but these are two primary reasons:

  1. A low EMR validates that Anderson Burton values the health, safety, and well-being of its employees. We want our employees to operate in a healthful, safe environment - to go home each night to their families.  Anderson Burton wholeheartedly believes that individuals want to work for a company, like Anderson Burton, that stresses a proactive approach to Safety.
  2. Experience has demonstrated that implementing and maintaining a healthy, safe work environment helps Anderson Burton win contracts.   Both General Contractors and Building Owners understand that in working with Anderson Burton, they are working with a company that considers the health safety of everyone extremely important.  They know this equates to a lowered likelihood that their projects will experience delays resulting from workers’ compensation issues.

Safety is JOB ONE at Anderson Burton.  We are proud of it!
